Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the response. Teller County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages are retained as needed to prepare and deliver a response. They remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive standard technical and usage details:
- The device's internet protocol address
- Browser name, type, and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Any referring website or source
- Date and time information for page requests
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic patterns, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine this activity into usage reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Routing search requests to the appropriate outside provider
- Measuring which resources visitors use and where improvements are needed
- Diagnosing errors, misuse, and technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Teller County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Teller County Sheriff's Office, the courts, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Colorado Sex Offender Registry. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not used to create consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Colorado agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Check them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Outside search providers receiving submitted queries
- Analytics vendors measuring use and technical performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement entities acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so unauthorized access or a breach cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if a minor may have submitted information so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence. Colorado consumer protections, including the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, C.R.S. § 6-1-101 et seq., may provide additional remedies where applicable. You may:
- Request access to personal information maintained about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for deletion where the law permits it
- Decline eligible forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date, so periodic review is encouraged.
